Indigo Bunting Carving by Allen Aardsma
Easily-recognized for their vibrant blue feathers, Indigo Buntings are abundant across the eastern half of the United States.
This solid basswood carving of an Indigo Bunting was made entirely by hand with a Buck 307 jackknife and a Warren knife. The legs and feet are made of various gauges of wire. Every detail was meticulously hand-painted with acrylic paint, and a coat of spray fixative was applied to seal the surface of the carving in order to keep dust and moisture out.
This carving is one-of-a-kind.
